Etd Strong Suits

Post by JRC ETD »

Like any other sport, ETD has drivers that were generalists, meaning very good in all conditions, and drivers that really excelled in specfic areas. As mentioned before, Brian was very good in any type of race, Bob was at home in the trees, which is ironic as he is from Winnepeg....no trees, Craig and Willie very strong on ovals or ice, Roger Ebert, Tom Otte, Doug Hough's strengths were in the ditch, I prefered long hauls and difficult conditions. Tom Otte is built like a fullback, and his ditch ability was much the same....fast and straight ahead, I remember being amazed at his arm and leg strength.....he was a perfect driver for the Liquidator! Roger was a very good driver in setting his sled up and taking care of it, only using what he needed to press the top 5 and then push it for the win. Willie and Doug Oster are the only ETD guys that will still fit in their leathers with some room for a safe jac......Doug very good in tight riding and ice! Craigs oval 340/s even with the fancooled engine and Thunderjet componets was a strong racer in the mod classes....Our Boss Al Andersen was a task master, Army Rangers, coach, and mathimatican, a Bill Parcels with Elite Army training, guess who picked him to oversee us!!!! Perfect choice.....but to quote a current NASCAR driver, "it ain't a bed of roses", we tested Al, and Al tested us! Al won as many races for ETD as the drivers and techians did by keeping the officals, the times, and the rules straight , more on the guy's that built the sleds and made the team strong later!
