POLARIS INDY 2-UP

Post by Mr. Deere »

I am looking at a 2- up 97 polaris indy. It is in fairly decent shape and has 3200 on it. It is a 97 and is in good condition for its age. It has the 600 Liquid triple in it and thats making my dad a litle wary. Any advice from those who have experiance with the liquid tripple. Thanks BOB

A good starting price is around $1500.00. Bought outright, not at a dealer.

When I bought mine, I was told by someone that many of them failed early, however, if they made it past 3000 miles, they would last thru 10,000. I still see a lot of mid-90s XLTs on the trails, and several guys have commented to me that they still have their XLT but ride a newer sled now.

What Rich said about bearings is right on. I've replaced several. Haven't had any clutch problems yet.

Matt, youre correct about the 3000 mile fact...Usually those who have done modifications to that motor were the ones with the problems...My brother and i each had one...mine was bare stock, and the thing still flew!! His had a can on it and some clutch work done, and within 500 miles of him putting some minor extras on, motor seized!!! The 90's XLTs were fast and fun sleds but, for some reason, they have gotten a bad rap due to alot of problems with motors. Mr. Deere, im not talking down on these sleds, just be aware of what youre doing with it and how the sled is responding to your riding! (Just like anyother sled you buy/ride!)
