Year: 1974 Serial# JDSO 20010M
Build Date: Nov 73
Original/Restored: Restored
Your name: Jim Tradup
Location: Oakdale, MN
Owned since: 2/03
Original Dealer: John Deere Horicon
History/Number if Raced: 89
Special Comments: This was the 10th 295/S built. It was raced by Jim Dano of Nisswa, MN in the 1974 St. Paul-Winnipeg I-500 for John Deere Horicon. Dano was running in 37th place (out of 282 sleds) on the second day when he was hit by a car that wandered on to the race course and put him out of the race. The sled was taken back to Horicon and rebuilt to stock configuration; it was then raced in local races by Dano. It is currently on display at the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, WI. Attached photo shows 295/S in HOF Museum with top 1974 I-500 JD riders Tom Otte (9th) and John Orvis (10th).

Special Comments, -- I was told that Some Previous Owner took this complete 295/S
to a auto wrecking yard for scrape, everyone to lazy to unload
it had the craine opperator drop the magnet on the sled
numorous times until Finally the magnet picked it up,
consequently flattening the tunnel, I was able to salvage the
Cleated Track & Drivers, most of the Suspension, Motor, Carbs,
Electrical, Clutches, Spindles, Aluminum Skis, & Springs

Year & Serial: JDSOC 020929M
Build Date: 12/73
Original/Restored: Restored
Your name: Kevin Campbell
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Owned since: 08/2006 - sold 02/2009 to Keith Warning, Joliet, IL
Original Dealer: Wertz Equipment - Charlotte, Michigan
Special Comments: Unfortunately this sled was stored outside for a number of years and was a bit neglected. All the "good parts" (aluminum skis, small tank, air box) were still on the sled, everything was original and the tunnel was very straight.

I purchased this from a person in Washington and just received it. It needs some work, but there is hope. It has all of the 295/S standard features, the slide rail cleated track and it also has a storage chest in a luggage rack mounted on the back.

Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.
