340/S jetting
This is out of the Service Textbook & may have been updated??? I can't answer that
Carbs were a VM 34-68
Mains 0-40 deg Left Carb 260 - Right Carb 250 Factory installed
NOTE 340/S parts book Dated April 77, says new carbs came with 250 mains installed
Air jet I-4 But the parts book says a " 0.7 "?? don't know why they used this as this is the first & ONLY Deere that I know of that even used one of these?????
Jet, Needle P-0
Needle, Jet 6DH3/3
Pilot #40
Throttle valve 2.5
Rich or Someone Else might know if these were changed during the race season
Or Maybe Don has some notes on jetting????

340/S jetting
Thanks for the info Kenny, I'm working on my 340S carbs right now, and I was wondering if it had the original parts in it.
Here's what I found;
First off, my STB and my owners manual identifies the carb used as a VM34-55
and I believe that is what I'm seeing on the carb body. This is the same carb used on the 295S according to SM2100.
My carbs had 250 and 260 main jets installed.
40 pilot jets
Needle jet P-O
Jet needle 6DH3
Air Jet 0.7
Throttle valve cut away 2.5
My STB has the temp/main jet chart, and it shows the position of the e-clip on the jet needle, and that is it. No mention of anything else.

Brian, mine was the same way, but I went to the parts book & found the part #'s then went to the fine tune Manual & the Liquifire parts book to cross reference the part numbers to what should be stamped on the parts ( Needle jet M65340 = P-0 etc)
My 340/S Service Textbook ( I-4 - M65776 No Date ) says the carbs should be a
VM34-68????
All of the 295/S carbs I have has 295/S stamped on the back where the 34-55 or 34-68 should be stamped on them
I believe that all that -55 or -68 means is how the carbs are set up ie: jetting, But I might be wrong on this statement?????
Maybe Rich or Harley can shed some light on that???
