Hello
Way back when I first owned a liquifire we would trim a narrow portion of the
air box off at the bottom where it slips onto the carbs, about half the width of the
clamp. This would make it easier to get the air box out of the way to get to the
carbs but still get a good seal to carb when put back together. Are there any
other tricks to help make things easier when working on a liquifier?
Or any other JD sled?

Change the carb boots to the Kawasaki Invader type and no trimming of the air box is necessary. Works like a charm and the sleds runs just fine.

I dont even run the clamps. Mine is just a straight shot into the carbs and I can pull it off with no effort at all. The biggest problem is the stupid placement of the MAG carb. what were they thinking???? BOB

I remove the seat ... 2 bolts. I then remove the gas tank .. 4 nuts.
Everything is simple after that and simple to put back together.
If your gas tank has the tank/seat clip riveted on ... grind off the rivets.
Make a simple plate with two bolts tack welded to it and install from the under side
of the tunnel. Then wire around the bolts to hold it in place so it does not fall out
when you remove it in the future. You could also pop rivet this plate in place from the
top of tunnel instead of the wire.
Sorry for my crude sketch but I hope this helps.
It makes everything easy in the future and well worth it.
You'll never regret doing this simple project!
