Clutch springs

Post by JDXsand00s »

My X8 and X6 have considerable low range bog, the 8 worse though, it takes about 30 seconds for it to fianlly fire on both cylinders when the throttle is fully open. I don't want to lean the carb out more, if that is the proper way to fix the problem as the top end is great and the top needle is already at 3/4 of a turn open. I think that if the engine had a different primary spring that would engage at a higher rpm, it would eliminate some of the bog. the tach doen't work but it seems to engage somewhere betwen 3-4 grand. would a different spring help and if so what would be a good color. Thanks.

How should the idle mixture screw be set? I know that the high speed should be turned down much from 1 turn, but can the side one? Also, what happens when i turn it down, will it lean out the idle and not screw with my top end? I've always set them at 1 turn nd never touched them after that for fear of leaning out another engine.
