liquifire ignition coils

Post by cyclestud »

I just have a quick question. I am trying to test my ignition coils on my '76 liquifire and don't know the specs. Does anyone know what the coil wire to ground specs are? Thank you.

Check out harleys post in the FAQ entitled diagnosing CDI problems, there you will find a link to the specs.

Is the spec for the external ignition coils there? When I looked at it all I could find was the specs for the coils on the stator. None on the specs were of the external coils from the plug wire to ground.

cyclestud,
Sorry I never posted the coil specs. To test the coil, measure the ohms between the primary stud terminal and the high voltage spark lead and between the high voltage spark lead and the small grounding wire. I have oem coils that measure out at around 150 ohms. I believe 100-300 ohms is an acceptable range. I will add pictures to the FAQ section shortly.
