Found this 1980 Liquifire

Post by Sledsrock »

Found this Liquifire locally, its pretty rough. Might make a good parts sled, the guy is firm on $350cdn. Is it worth grabbing up in your opinion? Maybe someone on this forum would want parts from it? Looks like it has a nice seat. Motor does not run and is in pieces too

Seems a little high especially if the motor is apart and the dash is gone? I payed $150 each for mine here in Saskatchewan and they were running but a little rough. I may have gotten a deal I don't know. Maybe someone else can give some advice.

He apparently has everything to put it back together. Your right, does seem pricey to me, but if it has some good parts it might be somewhat valuable? Not sure what the going rate is on a machine like this.

Sorry to dash your hopes but it is not a good deal. There are much better ones out there. Peter

I know sleds usually go for more in Canada.. but you definitely will find a better deal if you keep looking... heck even if you found a good deal in the states, it could be worth a road trip.

I thought about that.. I have the time to make a trip but not really knowing how or wanting to deal with customs to get it here. There seems to be a bundle of them south of the border though.

I traveled a handful of hours up to Minnesota and picked up a nice 80 Liquifire, a really nice 83 Liquifire, and a 81 parts Liquifire for $500.. plus about $175 in diesel fuel.. but that goes to show you that deals can be found!

Did I read that right, you got that and 2 other sleds for $500? Thats a steal, and a very nice sled. How does it run? Does it make a good rider?

Yeah I got the 80,81, and 83 for $500. Of course I had to to put some money into the sleds to get them looking nice.. new windshield, seat, fuel lines, clean gas tank and carbs, repaint skiis, etc. I rode the 80 around last winter a little bit, but not a lot as I had to go through the suspension this season and replace a bunch of bearings and idler wheels. I just got the 83 running this season, it needed a new stator, but it is now ready for snow.. im very excited getting ready to test it out for the first time.

But, compared to my other sleds, the 80 liquifire really rides alot nicer.

Trust me.. there are FARRRR more lucky members on the forum than myself.. trust me on that one. The sleds I bought were even posted by another forum member for sale in the forum. If you keep looking, you will for sure find something.
