340/S Spindles, Skis, etc.

Post by WinnipegStPaul9 »

I finally got my skis done, blasted and powder coated, and so I thought I'd mock them up. Man oh man do I have wayyyyyyy too much tolerance. The ski's were sloppy as heck in the spindle. My current plans are to ream the spindle holes, install 11/16" o.d. with 7/16" i.d. bushings. That should eliminate the play a little and provide a larger bolt than the 3/8" one. I'd love to hear your thoughts. DA

Don, I think I would do them up like all the Cyclones & the 78 liquifires # 80001- they had M66254 Bushing Pivot or the cc sleds used M67890 bushing Pivot, those numbers might have been sub'd to a newer number for something else but you'll have to ck with a JD dealer to find that out..

I would think they would be the same....I used that same spindle bushing in the 77 cyclone along with my 80 LF. Purchased it from the local JD shop.

It was in the FAQ section in the thread about JD part sources other than DK...etc.
I believe Matt posted it.

It doesn't show as a good part number in the search part of the JD catalog.

The current application for the part number is on an 8 row corn planter. The guys at the local dealership always ask me if I am fixing up a planter when I order the bushings.
Of coarse they know I am not but they like to tease.

I have mentioned this before.

You can buy the seamless steel tube from Wicks Aircraft Supply, and cut your own, for around $5 per foot.
