Bogie Wheels & Good Will

Post by strongone »

Two months back I posted a topic looking for new bogie wheels for a JD300. The silence was defining. Not one response. So instead of getting pissed-off I continued looking.

My first find was an ebay purchase of 10 bogies for $21 delivered. They are the real deal AM52464. They even have a John Deere tag on them.

My big find was a result of taking a chance on bogie wheels from Surplus Center. They are identical except for the centers. All you need to do is drive out the centers and press in the centers off your old ones. The best part is the price. I purchased 52 for $2.69 each. I have enough for my two sleds and for future projects. I talked them down from the $2.99 list.

I believe Surplus has 2000 of them. Part # 1-3122 5" bogie wheel.

I hope this buys me some good will toward the resto of my '76 300 deers.

There was silence because at that time, other than ebay or used, I didn't know who to steer you towards. The aluminum centered ones were sold in large quantities a couple of years ago by DK, and one of our private sellers has some, but he was off line at that time.

I'll check this out.

Thanks for posting that tip, but why would you get PO'ed that no one here offered sell you any? Many of us only have enough to cover a project sled or two, or none at all.

Even with as much junk as I have, I only have one set of 15 of them destined for a bogie 295/s that needs total resto. And since it's a personal stash, I feel no obligation to sell parts I need for future projects.

I am glad to see you were able to find some, as DK-Trader and Parts Unlimited used to have thousands of them, and sold them for $3.00 on Evil Bay for about two years or more.

Good luck with your project.
