The answer is no.
Both piston and cyl is different. The intruder has dual carbs and dont match the sportfire intake...

Dont know bout the A and B...

Magnus,
Thanks for the reply, however there's one thing I don't understand (of Many), in one of the aftermarket catalogs that I have it shows that the Sportfire John Deere/Kawasaki 440 and the Kawasaki Intruder 440 Fan Cooled take the same no. piston, bearnig, and rings. Also after looking at your home page is the bolt patterns different from say a single carb and a duel carb setup? Thanks Mailman

Hi Mailman and Magnus,

To the best of my knowledge, the Kawi Intruder is a similar motor to the Sportfire, both T-7 based. The pistons "should" interchange, but the Intruder does have a cast on carb mount like a Liquifire, while the Sportfire version uses a totally different interface for the single carb intake manifold. The bottom ends of the motors are quite different, with the Kawi Intruder having a gear case and jackshaft for the oil pump, like a Liquifire.

The Kawi "Intiger/Inviter" used the "T-1" Trailfire type motor, and have few, if any parts in common with the T-7 motors. "Maybe" the pistons would fit, but I am not positive of that either!

Magnus, what do you think? Any darn snow in Sweden? Not much in New York State...

Anyone else think I should write up the differance from Kawi motor in Deere and Kawi sled for the FAQ section?!

All years of intruder, sportfires, liquifires use the same pistons. The cyl's are different on all, but all have the same bore and stroke.Intruder cyl's will bolt onto a sporty, but you will have to used the intruders dual carb set up , and will have to get creative for an air box.
The intruder and liquifire cranks are the same and will interchange, but the sporty crank is all off by itself and will not work on the intruder or liq. Ed

NOt sure what you all make of this. I could not find pistons for my completely rebuilt (and sitll on the bench) Sprintfire (340 l/c).

After numeorus discussions and cross checking, I did put in pisotns from a 1978/79 Kawi Invader (think that was their 340 l/c). They looked the same in every possible way (identical). Maybe this helps, not sure. As I haven't run the engine, I guess theres a possiblity its not going to work (but it turns over real nice, compression excellent)

So now I've got this completely engine..... just got to repalce the cleats on the track and put it back in (and a few other things too)!!!

Thanks (good luck)

All the intruders i have disassembled had the liquifire style piston in them....the drifter on the other hand has the same piston as the sportfire.

Yes..aftermarket pistons thats true, Kimpex has the same piston for all, but you dont want to use two different Oem pistons...

Sportfires and Liquifires dont use the same pistons...just check your parts manual.
The sportfire has two keystone rings and the Liquifire has an L ring on the top...

The cranks are different. The liquifire cranks centre bearings are lubricated by the oil pump, the intruder isnt....

We have about 12 inches of snow here in my area so im pretty happy!

Thanks!
