pressure testing results

Post by speer »

Ok I closed off my exaust, intake and impulse line, put 6-7 lbs pressure in one cylinder air comes out both pto and mag side Does this mean center seal is bad and does crank have to be pressed apart to change seal ? And is there a gasket for crankcase or just (glued) together ? My engine is a TA440C B201 fan cooled.

I did other cylinder also and leaked out both sides then also and tried vaccum on impulse line to fuelpump and couldn't get no vaccum pressure built up

Usually you hook up the pressure line to the impluse line fitting. If you can not get the engine to hold pressure, turn up the suppy no higher than 7 lbs and bubble test the seals..
The center seal could leak when the engine is off. It seals when running.
There is no gasket, the case is sealed with crankcase sealer.

Ok I'll try pressuring at the impulse line but I can hear both seals leaking I put a hose to my ear and other end to seal area. And when trying to start it it would backfire through carbs and I saw fire and smoke come from behide the recoil so I think that might have blown seals out thats why I'm checking them out

There is no question you have seal failure with what you just stated.

You gotta split the case.

Speaking of pressure testing, where can I find the rubber to seal off the intake and exhaust? Id like to build a system soon.

I just used an old inner tube punched holes out for bolts and put intakes and exaust back on
