We are taking a bit of a beating over on the Canadian vintage site. The say we are snobbish and do not welcome newcomers. Say it isn't so, have we created a monster................
Accscc
It's all because of one guy on here got all bent out of shape when someone mentioned to him that his '77 liquifire he was selling might be a different year. He took it like he had been called every name in the book. Said we were pompous and arrogant. I'm sure he's the same one that is bashing us over there. Ok I'll edit this some now since I went over and read his post. Apperently he takes great offense to someone calling his sled a frankendeere. I guess you can't make everyone happy, but I for one can say I would know next to nothing about these sleds if it wasn't for you guys!

If he was offended by the frankendeere comment, he could have just said so, and the person who posted that would probably have apologized, and all would be fine, but instead he decided to go on a rant and make it a personal attack on everyone here. It was completely unnecessary. The topic was deleted.

If he comes back and reads this, I apologize for the Frankendeere comment. That comment was not intended to insult the owner. I was just making refference to a sled with a mis-matched hood and I asked for the serial number to verify the actual year. I believe the term "Frankendeere" was created here, which is a name given to a JD sled which has parts installed from a different year/style/model.

PJ,
I wish the best of luck with your creation, it takes a creative mind and skills to accomplish such a project.

Harley,
I wouldn't sweat it out too much, sounds like the seller was a bit thin skinned. You are correct that any miss-matched Deere is called a "FrankenDeere". Come to think of it, I have called most of the Watersboys sleds that since we met 12 years ago!
The guy could have handled it much better than going off on all of us.
Generally speaking, I think we are pretty darn helpfull to everyone, long time members and new guys alike. Sure to use humor to make a point, but I don't see a problem, and most importantly, niether does Matt.
Peter,
I don't think we've created a monster or become snobbs. I think we do have the best brand specific vintage website on the net, and the most interactive. But, as the old saying goes: you can't please all the people all the time...
Later Liquidator,

Hi Guys,
I don't know what I would have done had it not been for you guys helping me out with parts and info all the time.
There are lots of us Canadian deere fans who feel the same, even in my tiny province of SK. There will always be a few who want to bash a good thing. Maybe this guy will stick around. This is a GREAT site!

I guess Id be offended if someone called my sled a frankendeere NOT just look at my signature. We had a discusion about a sled that I bought last year and it was coined the frankendeere by myself. Here are the pics of what I call Frankendeere. I think we came up with parts from about 8 different sleds on this covering a 10 yr span.

Hi guys,
As a newcomer to this site, all i can say is that i feel as though you guys have done everything you could to make me feel welcome. Especcially matt, pat, and paul. i was always wandering around in the dark until i found this site. since, i have found parts i have been searching for, tech info, and made a few friends. But, I guess you can't please everyone.
I just want to thank everone on this site that helped me get started into this great hobbie at the age of only 19

I have to say that being a new guy here too, that all my questions have been answered. People have helped me out, and that I am learning from you guys so that one day I can help out the next new guy. I belong to a couple other forums for other things and one thing people have to learn is to use the search button before they post the same question that has been asked a million times. Gets old quick. Thanks for answering all my stupid questions. I appreciate it.
