84 Liquifire, CDI box maybe?

Post by 84liquifire »

I am trying to find a CDI box for a 84 Liquifire, if anyone knows where I can get one that would be great. I have tryed everything else that I can think of, thats all there is left. The engine always wants to bog out when you give it gas, idles great, starts on the first pull every time. Sometimes it revs up and runs fine, the next time it wont. I was wondering about the rev. limiter, could that have something to do with it. I need sugestions. Thanks

check your grounds , all your ground straps take them off clean them etc ,, i just bought an 800 that was said to be for parts only , no fire , the ground strap connection was dirty , runs like a brand new on e, first pull and whamo , i rebuilt the walbro so that helped , ive seen alot of bad grounds cause stupid problems

Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your liquifire?

I would say your cdi coil packs are fine. Sounds to me a fuel related problem. What is the temp outside when you run it? These LF"s with the power jet carbs are very finicky to temperature. If its 30 or above they WILL bog. Run it when its colder and see what it does. If it still boggs you might have to look deeper into the carbs.

if your rev limiter is giving you greif it will cut out the sleds ignition like hitting the kill switch on and off. Just unplug the switch it is located on the chassis under the airbox its a small square box..then it will run normal but you wont be governed over 9000rpm. If an engine boggs its fuel or air related. If it cuts out its ignition related. Goodluck!

Clean your carbs, Check you drive clutch for worn or broken parts, & put the idle up to just below the clutch engagment speed, about 4000 RPM if your clutch is working properly (so the drive belt isn't rubbing on the moveable sheave) this should eliminate most of your bog
