Air Box

What does everyone feel about not running with the airboxes on the Liquifires? Any suggestions on what to substitute for an air box? K&N cone type filters?

if your using the original mikuni's with the Power Jets you will need the airbox to make them run correctly.

TakeItToTheLimit wrote: Exactly what Ken stated. The powerjet carb needs the box to operate correctly. After what you have gone through to get the carb...use the box. If you don't have one, DK still sells them. Or you could get another parts sled. He he he he

i would really like to put the K&N cone type filters on. Let me guess though that if I do this I will have to rejet the carbs?

Air Box

Why not stick with the air box? They run fast enough with the air box that you won't notice much if any diffence. Plus, the jetting will be close to what is listed in the tech or fine tune manuals. Save to a possible jet up or down one or two sizes. Save yourself the headaches and buy the proper airbox. You won't regret it.

Think about it this way, if you buy the K & N and get it too hot while trying to get the correct jetting, you just bought youself an engine rebuild and a new piston to replace. In the meantime, someone else who thought about doing the same thing, but decided to go with the correct airbox. They are still riding, while you are still rebuilding.

I saw the airbox on E-bay from DK, I am unsure but this airbox looks like it needs a snorkel hose that is not there?

I work with a guy who races Arctic Cats and he said that he would go with the K&N's and it wouldnt hurt anything.
