Another 295S Newbie
Another 295S Newbie
I have found a 295S that I am looking to buy. Most of the sled is there but it is missing the skies as well as the top end of the motor. At $400 is this a good buy? Any help of the missing parts would be greatly appreciated.

Deadsled, that's too vague of a description to answer with any certainty but $400.00 sounds pretty reasonable. I'm not a 295/s fan but if I was I'd probably own it by now if I were you.

Re: Another 295S Newbie
Used cylinders for it can be found as well as the possibility of making it even more CC's. I believe we have found a replacement for the 295/S pistons as well. Like Don says your pretty vague on it, does it have the small fuel tank or the one up front? is the CDI box there? is the exhaust complete & there? is the dash complete? are the carbs there? is the air Box there & complete? are the heads there? is the engine shrouding there?
Or when you said that the top end was missing did you mean Cyl.'s & heads? has the engine crankcase been filled with oil so to keep the crank from getting rusted, if Rusted beyond repair this will be expensive to replace.
just a few things to look at that will determine if it's worth $400.00 or more, Or less
Just my $.0765 worth

Re: Another 295S Newbie
I am pretty positive I looked at this sled about a 2 wks ago. I passed on it. Low serial Number. no small tank, no Alum skis , no kill sw. It has been painted black. Slide susp with a good track, eng is looked tight, crank is dirty, no cyls, heads, pistons, air shroud or intake tubes. The correct mainfold, pipe, and can were there and the carbs were present also. so now whats it worth. I didn't need another 295/s so I passed. It has potential but is a real project.

Re: Another 295/S Newbie
The aluminum intake spacers, air box, engine shroud, Will BE Hard To Find & Not Cheap, you could also figure About $250.00 or more for a crank rebuild, That IF it's rebuildable.. I believe that the kill switch is the same as some older Cats & can be found easily.
I would think $400.00 is high, I wouldn't personally go over $200.00 - $250.00 maybe even less if the hood needs replacing, or if it doesn't have the correct drive clutch, or if the exhaust is rusted through or has mice in them..
