speedo cable
I was wondering how the speedometer cable is supposed to hook the the drive shaft on my 1973 400, the bearing was out when i got the sled so everything was torn up so im not sure how it is supposed to go.

There is a ( gear and worm ) speedometer drive that attaches to the three bolts that secures the RH driveshaft bearing, the cable screws onto this.
There is a "key" ( JD calls it a core ) 2 or 3 inches long, made of drive cable material, square on each end, that mates the driveshaft to the speedo drive unit.
The drives show up on ebay, the keys can be bought at Central Snowmobile.
