Waconia thanks and thoughts

Post by clackinator »

As is usually the case, when I was asked to speak before the auction my mind went blank of all the names of the folks I wanted to thank. Public speaking still makes me nervous as hell. Anyway, to Don Amber, Pete Mindermann, Chuck Moser, Jesse Babler, Ken Heins, Brian Linder, Troy Miley, Jerome Kretzman, Lloyd Krohn and so many others I just wanted to say thank you!

When we started out with the 340/S project there were some rumblings that maybe we were biting off more than we could chew and it would be best left to guys that were more "John Deere familiar". That may have been correct, but it all worked out because of the guys we met on this JD site and all the advice, parts, technical help and labor offered. I can't say enough for the spirit of the build. I'll never forget the project. I'm very proud of it.

Also, a HUGE thanks to Mr. Carlson who offered to take the mic and say a few words when the bidding had somewhat stalled. He gave a bit of background information on the 340/S and really seemed to "re-energize" the room. With a total of $5000 raised for Make A Wish, we should all be happy. I still wonder if the economic times were a bit stronger if the sled would have really went through the roof? Hard to say for sure.

Its also great to see that JDsleds dot com, vintage sledders and the vintagesleds dot com sites all came together to help promote and prop up the build. It was all about charity and its good to see that spirit is alive and well.

One last thanks to everyone involved! Anyone up for a Rupp build? Just kidding of course. Maybe.

Justin I do have a 71 WT 440 that is not too bad that I would donate to next years project.

Keep it in mind.

And thanks for all you did for MAW the last couple of years.
It was fun wasn't it.

Justin, thank you and to your crew for a magnificent build. The sled was drop dead gorgeous.

Thanks for the offer Todd! I am going to let another person jump in and coordinate the next project....I'd like to concentrate on some of my own projects this year.
