Thanks for the great 295/s Frankie
It was great to visit Frankie after a 5.5 hour drive. I wish I would have had time to stay longer. The 295/s is home safely after a 5.5 hour drive home. The sled is in really great condition. Even the bellypan is clean. Now the search for the correct motor. Thanks Frankie.

Old sleds are hours of entertainment.... then you get to ride them for a little bit.

Re: Thanks for the great 295/s Frankie
It has the correct exaust and carbs. It has a 340 CCW that I presume came out of a 400. I'm pretty sure if I had the correct throttle cable and cleaned the carbs it would be running. If it is the original speedo which I would believe it to be by looking at the condition it has pretty low miles. For now it's getting tucked in the garage until I have time and find the correct motor. It would really be hard to find a 295/s this clean.

Congrats Duane - I tried to jump on that one, but you were quicker. It sure looks like a nice chassis to start with and I am glad you are happy with it.
And I'll second that thanks to Frankie. Although we've never met, you were able to help me out directly and indirectly on a couple of items. You've found some good stuff over the years and there must be a million barns in corn country...Keep up the good work and keep 'em coming.

Looks like a very clean and straight sled Duane. Hope you find the motor without too much trouble.

Kind of hard to believe that a sled this nice would not have the right motor in it. When your ready to do something with it let me know. I just might be able to help with the motor.

Duane..You are more than welcome... Remember,,if anyone asks there are no John Deere sleds in Iowa.. Wished you would have had more time,,I am positive we could have filled that new truck up with parts... T-Roy looked like Fred Sanford driving down 74 when he headed home from here..I know its in good hands now.. It will be awsome when your done I'm sure... T-Roy,, Your 295 looks just beautiful..You do excellent work... You set a pretty high Bar for Duane to follow.... Frankie

Wow, I really like Joe's offer the best Chuck. LOL Frankie, I wish I could have stayed longer. I am so impressed with the condition of the sled. You know, I better do some investigating. Looking at a real 295/s motor with the wrong shroud. I really wouldn't know the difference if it slapped me in the face.

Re: Thanks for the great 295/s Frankie
Duane,
Congrats on picking up a 295/s. They are a hoot to ride! Frankie is great to deal with! One super nice guy!
I'm sure this may trigger some debate, but you need to look at that engine close. Look at the exhaust side of the engine at the lower case half. Are there any numbers stamped in the case? RS-2 engines had their serial number stamped in two places. The lower case half and the serial tag on the fan housing. You might also pull the starter cover off and look at the flywheel. RS-2 engines did not have a ring gear on the flywheel. These two clues might help you determine what you have. For some reason, which I can attest to, the mice have an attraction to those fan towers. Maybe that was the case and someone simply switched towers at one time.
