Slide/bogie suspension ready to reinstall.
Rear storage compartment/seat support had to be built from scratch. Although it looks pretty good, I hope to find an original one to replace it someday.
Completed sled. Note the front foot stirrups, location of rear grab handles, and 3rd fuel tank located under the front of the custom seat.
Head temperature gage was mounted on handlebars and hood foam was torn out before the I-500 race.
Also, note the two seams (stock tanks only had one seam) on the oversize front fuel tank.
My son Tom kneeling by the completed sled wearing Jim Dano's actual helmet, race bib, and suit. Race numbers were also added to both sides of the hood with duct tape....just like they were 30 years ago.
