buying a used pickup

you want a decent small truck? I have a 1996 GMC Sonoma High-Rider (fender flares, big tires, offroad susp.) that has served me very well. Find yourself one of those. They quit making them in 2004 when the Canyon came out.

Ebay thieves.

I had a buddy who tried to keep a full-time USPS job, open a bike/skateboard shop, have a wife with two little kids, AND sell some excess inventory on eBay. He was in way over his head and couldnt keep anything straight, as there wasnt enough hours in the day for him to do it all. His eBay feedback ...

Powder coating

It is my understanding that anything that flexes significantly is not a good candidate for powdercoating. I had a bunch of bogie arm brackets and stuff beadblasted and powdercoated, but the guy only blasted the springs, and didnt coat them because he said it would crack and come off when the springs...

I have two friends who keep thier massive stashes of toys at "remote sites".

It's almost comical watching them operate.

Their wives probably are at home doing the exact same thing with clothes and shoes.

Thanks-

That makes perfect sense to me now, the way you explained it.

It was maybe 15 degrees when I checked this plug.

Its actually sorta cool that a guy can "jet" these old carbs while running it....

(JDFanPa, you have all those sleds, and your wife hasnt shot you yet?)

certainly looks chocolatey to me. It's just so "dry".... I'm going to call it "good".

My MX bikes have always been darker, but again, thats with 32:1 premix.

I'm used to MX bikes that run 32:1, so I am just fishing for opinions. A guy at work thought I may be on the edge of "melting that slow piece of s--- down". LOL

1973 JDX4. Kohler engine. stock Walbro carb. high speed needle was set at 3/4 turns out (as per the owner's manual). low speed needle was turned out an additional 1/4 turn to eliminate low-end "bogging" (worked nicely then). Gas is 91 octane @ 44:1 with Honda HP2 synthetic (sticker on tank...

screamin' like a little girl

I'm using this story on a guy at work who has a new Polaris 800 Dragon. Those machines are insane at 154 HP, but this story is going to make his face red, and we're all going to have a good laugh at his expense !!! Speaking of cornering, I must say that cornering is NOT the strong point on my renova...

1973 JDX4 renovation

That old Case thresher is AWESOME. I race the old Honda CR500 in motocross races at Aztalan and a few other locations. It was the only year that Honda made an air-cooled "500" (in 82-83 it was a "480", and in '85 it was liquid cooled). I had one way back when I was in high school...

yes, the 73 JDX4 was all steel. I think the '73 JDX8 had aluminum tunnels. Seems the "8" was the cadillac of the bunch back then, with the "4" being the chevette. Nice tractor you have there. I have a 7-yr. old who loves all things John Deere. We go to that old tractor show in Un...

I forgot to add the photo of under the hood: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g92/kari_D/DSC01039.jpg This was my first snowmobile project. I have done several old MX bikes. The Honda is an '84 and the Yamahas are both '82s. The little Yamaha 60 is as rare as chicken's teeth; only made from '81 to ...

Will_jdx, If you are in Burlington, then you have easy access to the John Deere paint.... It took me 7-8 cans of primer and just over 6 cans of the blitz black. It's some really good stuff, just be sure to let your painted parts "cure" for a week at room temp. so it isnt too "soft&quo...

Yeah.... my fuel line might be a tad too long, but that dang blue fuel line from Parts Unlimited also seemed to be permanently "coiled" when I was installing it. so that isnt helping matters either. I'll have to check and see if it has straightened itself out inside the tank.

1973 JDX4 renovation

A guy at work gave it to me for FREE. Very rusty and covered in barn dust (smelled like poop), but pretty much "complete" and not all beat to hell. I used the oven cleaner and nuts n bolts trick on the gas tank. WOW.... the nasty stuff that came out was unbelievable. http://i54.photo...
