Does anyone have an idea why the Vin plate seems to have a black label as if from a label maker? It shows 663

Re: 75 800
Yesterday I had a chance to replace the broken recoil spring and to do some tinkering. It has 130lbs on each cylinder and excellent spark. I was able to get it to take and return fuel but will only run on carb cleaner. I hope to have a chance to clean the carb today. Yesterday was a hail Mary attemp...

75 800
I got lucky today and scored an original an unmolested 800. Sled is complete but needs the usual barn find TLC. After digging into it for 5 minutes I believe the previous owner parked it in the barn when the recoil spring let go. There is a good reason for the spring calling it quits. Clicker shows ...

Re: 79 (not 81) Sportfire with oil injection?
Thanks. Yes the seat is original. Very soft as well. Only blemish is the one shown at the hump. What is the most preferred method of dealing with this cut/blemish? I plan to list the sled for sale though and might just leave the blemish as is to allow the new owner to address it as they see fit. The...

Re: 81 Sportfire with oil injection?
Must definitely be a kit then. This one is going to clean up extremely well. All I have done so far is to clean off the barn dust and get it running again. Came with the original cover that was on it when I saved it from the barn it was hiding in.

Pricing gauge on 100 series sleds
I am looking for assistance on where to price these two sleds. I recently picked up a very nice 72 500 as well as a 73 600. Both have electric start, both have mint seats. Both are good runners. These have been stored in a barn for their entirety. The property was sold so I became the new owner! Inc...

79 (not 81) Sportfire with oil injection?
I recently picked up a very nice Sportfire. Manufactured in 81 and it has oil injection. This does not sound correct does it? I know, I should post the serial number but I forgot to write it down. The page that provide model info on this site states that oil injection was not added until 83? The sle...

76 400 now $200
IMG_3269.jpg The 80 Liquifire has sold and is going to a new home. Now the 76 400 needs to go. I have a nice 80 Liquifire project that I would like to find a new owner for. ( Found one, it is sold ) :beers; I have a 76 JD 400 available as well. It is not showroom but it would not take much to retur...

Re: Not much info found for 76 JD 400
Here is the sled. It is dirty in this photo. This is how it came home, before it received a bath! I would like to unload this sled. She runs great. I will list it in the classifieds shortly.

Re: Not much info found for 76 JD 400
Thanks Matt, I have not declared ownership of the 76 400 yet. I am impressed by it though. 34hp is not shabby at all for the old sled. This one is very nice. Been stored indoors since new. Even at that the seat cover still shows cracking just before the hump. I am going to have it in my garage here ...

Can you share what your jetting ended up as? Is the sled still running, no burn downs?
Thanks,

Not much info found for 76 JD 400
I found a very nice 76 JD 400 and cant seem to find much information on wether or not this was a good year for this model? I would think that the reeds and cdi would make it a greatly improved version of prior years. It isn't running yet and I am not all that wild about the Walbro that came stock on...
