Re: 1978 Liquifire carb adjustments
I have the same sled an am able to set the carbs as per the Service Msnual. It sounds to me like the throttle cable had been changed sometime in the past and an incorrect cable has been installed.

Re: Early liquifire or later?
It depends what you want out of them. The 78 and 81 are 2 completely different sleds. As stock the 81 has more rear suspension and hp. As Matt said, the 78 is more reliable to keep running. I own a 78 and I am not afraid to ride it on long distance trails. The 80 lig I had was a different story. I c...

Re: 1976 cyclone 440 / Kioritz 22a - great idle, lousy high end
All great points, it also looks like the right side cylinder is running rich, possibly the spark is dropping out. is the CDI box still the oem Prestolite? . They are know to fail and cross fire. Get an Inline spark tester and check each spark plug with it running. Something else to check is the high...

Re: Cyclone seat
I have used a router and cut a groove deep enough in the wood so the wire is flush with the bottom edge.

Re: 340/S - no spark
Possible causing of only only one cylinder spark:
Bad spark plug, stop using surface gap plugs
Bad coil-switch with other side, see what happens
Ohm coils, compare to hewtech specs
Bad timing ring, compare to hewtech spec
Plugs, coils, timing ring good-replace cdi with hewtech fireplug.

Re: 76 cyclone stator/timing
Yea, the comcast web site was disabled a few years ago.
On all my 440 engines, the timing was dead on with the stator plate anchored in the center of the slot. Are you sure you have the crank degrees on the correct rotation of before not after top dead center?

Are you checking the timing with a dial indicator and a timing light?

Re: 1983 Liquifire low end power/clutching?
Do you have a service manual? I would check your carb jets and primary clutch setup against the stated specs in the service manual for your elevation.
Also, you didn't mention that you changed the crank seals or carb boots, they should be changed as well.

Good luck with Crown Vic, cool car. If you get serious with the suspension mod, give me a shout, I may have a lead on a track and skid.

Re: Fire Series Rear Suspension
I used a 1980 Liquifire skid, following the template of the bolt holes for a 1978 CC conversion from standard skid to the optional CC skid. The all-rubber track that I used was from a mid '80s Arctic Cat. Here are the part numbers. The AC rubber track part #'s are: 0102-317....16x121x3/4 0602-113......

Crank seals, not JD but common issue
This is why you must change crank seals perioditicly. Engine ran great but has 6,000 plus miles on the clock. I don't think it would have made it thru the upcoming season. Cylinder wall clearance was also excessive. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191010/be7b964f8959958fb72d324177bd1645.jpg Sent ...
