Re: JD800 Clutch Options

Great thanks - that clears a few things up. I started to look in the parts manuals and see that for the 800 its listing a black primary spring, doing some searching on here it looks like the 800 should have a white spring stock?

Wanted : 1982 Trailfire LX 440 Throttle Cable

Looking for a good used cable for my 82 LX 440 - tried an aftermarket one from new breed and it’s too long compared to the oem one.

Let me know if you have anything

Re: JD800 Clutch Options

Thanks I took a look through the FAQ's it didn't really say if there is a difference between the CCW clutches vs. a Kawasaki clutch?

Re: New Trailfire Project

Made a bunch of progress - installed the powder coated skis and with new skegs. Put the skid in and got the track somewhat tensioned. IMG_5880.jpeg IMG_5895.jpeg Started to hook up carb and wires, going to have to look at some old photos to make sure I’m routing things properly. But gave it a quick ...

Re: JD800 Clutch Options

Bringing this thread back up - have been nursing it with the damaged clutch this winter (just been pulling kids around in the yard for the most part) but it's starting to make a racket. Looked closely at the clutch it's quite worn and I saw some cracking on the face as well. (apparently previous own...

Re: 81+ skis

While we're on the topic of skis on the fire series sleds - anyone know where to get or an alternative to the M66280 Ski Stops? Mine are broken in half and would like to source a new set.

Re: Trailfire Drive Bearing Help

Thanks guys - looks like way back when they installed the new jackshaft bearing at the secondary it was in a different spot. Looking kinda thru/behind the brake rotor I could see that bearing wasnt seated fully at the end of the shaft. I took the entire thing all apart again and moved that secondary...

Re: Trailfire Drive Bearing Help

Sorry one last question - is that all the upper gear engage ment I should have? That’s without the two shims (there were two under the gear initially Edit: really wonder if I have the correct jackshaft - forgot to mention that in order to remove secondary I have to half remove the jackshaft, not sur...

Re: Trailfire Drive Bearing Help

Thanks that’s what figured - I’m guessing when the last bearing failed they sourced something locally / that’s what they got.

Good to know the 79 Trailfire track is similar - have a 79 parts machine. I will keep it so if I ever pick up a Spitfire I have a spare track

Re: New Trailfire Project

Finally had some time to make some headway - got the skid finally back in one piece, a bit of chipped paint getting it all together but much better than before .

Re: Trailfire Drive Bearing Help

Thanks for all the help so far - got the driveshaft all back in properly. Had an other question on the jackshaft side bearings, particularly the secondary side - are the 82+ bearings different than the 79-81? Ordered some bearings from new breed and the new bearing doesn’t have a flange on both side...
