I am in need of that motor.
My dad's first machine was a 73 JDX4, and i want to surprise him with a rebuilt one.
I also need a good 73 JDX body, but have nowhere to store it right now.
Where's the motor located?
Eric

Re: Tucker's 78 Cyclone
That is an inspiring setup. Having never actually seen anyone work on fine tuning a snowmobile before (or even fixing one), the photobucket series looks great. What's the brake off of? And what brand of fuel filters are those? And would lowering the factory skid in the tunnel like you've done improv...

Re: John Deere Super Computer
When I saw the title of this topic I thought there was going to be another prank picture of a John Deere computer, or maybe an old diagnostic machine.
I'm disappointed.

Re: 80 trailfire suspension upper idler wheels
If you use the search tool in the forum, most of the info is in here somewhere. I just posted all the info about these idler wheels last week. http://www.jdsleds.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7939 There was only one idler left at Oak Bluff Enns Brothers, after I bought two of them. All other...

Re: Wanted: Trailfire battery box or tray
Yes. In one day I saw three kits come up. I was thinking of doing this slowly, spending a bit at a time. I really should put a new windshield on before I put a starter in. I thought that this might be a part that is sitting around in parts piles, from sleds that had been parted out. NOS is not reall...

Wanted: Trailfire battery box or tray
Getting parts together to put a starter in one of my Trailfires.
Anyone have a battery box/tray sitting around?
Thanks,
Eric

I sometimes just unbolt the intake boot from the manifold. You can pull the carb straight up then.

Re: 1980 TF 440 top end & best setup for max top end
The gearing sounds right for the speed and RPM.
Apart from the clutch, the only thing I can think of is that the throttle valve isn't opening all the way.

Re: 1980 TF 440 top end & best setup for max top end
Is it the right tach?
Is it actually a 440 motor?
Is the carb clean?
Is the throttle cable adjusted?
Are all your bearings good--idlers, jackshaft, driveaxle?
Is the track tensioned right?

Any more details available about getting a coil over rear shock for the TF?
Or using that ski shock from DK, 08-114-16? Did it last?

Re: I need a favour please
You can ship it to Mike's Parcel Pickup in Pembina, North Dakota if you want, and I'll bring it up, but it won't be quick, and it'll be more to reship from Winnipeg.
That is unless it's the same part I'm bidding on

Re: Small idler wheels--good part numbers
I just pulled my 79 Trailfire apart and found the original upper idler wheels with integral bearings, too, which I guess is JD part AM54652. I measured it as 4.25" OD. The part number listed earlier in this thread from Mfg Supply matches a part number listed in Sun and Snow in Portage la Prairi...

Re: 79 Trailfire
You know, that doesn't ever happen to me...
I don't ever drive down the road and look over and say,
"Oh look, dear! There's a part machine I need for my 30 year old relics, I'll just take that home."
