tr800 question

Just wondering what the problem was with the tr800,I just aquired one and I opened it up and it seems like it should have been a pretty good clutch.I dont care for the comet cluthes as in my opinion they ware out far too fast for a high dollar clutchand it costs far too much to rebiuld them as well....

Re: 79 trailfire 340 carb setting?

First thing I would do is tear down the engine and look for internal problems like crank seal or bad crank bearings as well as possible cylinder/piston damage.

Re: "tar in gas tank"

Pinesol put it in straight up and let it sit for a day then rinse all the gunk out and let dry,no chain required. Also works good on varnished carbs if you soak them in it and then hit them with spray carb cleaner afterwards.

Re: Sprintfire Crank bearing?

My bet would be a bad crank seal that lets moisture in and rusts up the bearing. Just a guess but it sounds good to me ?

Usually once you change them they are good for a few years.Get yourself a manual, it will tell you how to do it.

Re: 1980 spitfire ?

Probably a good time to do crank seals as well just so you dont burn up the engine very easy to do on that engine and is worth the piece of mind.
