Well I guess I'd like to comment here. Not sure who the "experts" are that you refer to, I'm certain I'd not be considered an "expert". When I saw the first post here I looked at the link and decided I'd call the guy to see where he was on these sleds. It was obvious that he had no clue as to what he had. Secondly the one and only picture made it clear to me that the 340/S was not complete and most likely was only a parts sled to me. It's true that I told him he had a rare sled, first of all because I did not want to see it crushed and secondly because he sounded like a nice man and he deserved to know that he had a sled of value. That said I also told him that since I was in the business of buying and selling sleds the value to me was most likely lower than someone who wants a 340/S to restore. I offered him $300.00 for the sled and he understood my position. But I also told him that he would have it sold by the end of Sunday and likely for more than my offer, but my offer stood.

So Chuck, are you saying we don't have a responsibility to people like this to inform them of a sleds value (or a lack of value)? I felt very pleased that I made this man much happier than when he awoke on Sunday. That beats the hell out of making people more miserable in my book. I know I don't like it when people make my family members sad!

DA Maybe I read to deep into it. I am just glad it is not going to the scrap yard.

I hunted down the owner of a 340/s in my area last year or so only to find it went to scrap because of a bad crank bearing. So in some regards to save something from scrap yes. Now like the 84 liquifire i got at a yard sale that a few people know about and everyone called him saying it was worth a lot of money. They were not the ones there with cash and picking it up. The guys looking for the deals on all of the adds on the internet are great. But way to many sleds and good sleds go to scrap. And hey me or anyone else cant buy every sled that pops up for sale that we like or want so we dont need to call the owner and say what its worth or i wouldn't have half the sleds I have. I always tell them this is what i could do on it right now or when i could get it but please do not scrap it. I figure if the motor spins its worth a hundred bucks in parts.
I buy sell and service all brands. Contact me and i might be able to help. sleds 2-liquidators, 75 340/S, 80 liquifire, 78 440 liquifire, 75 jd 300, 83 9700 skidoo blizzard, 86 skidoo formula plus, 79 motoski super sonic, 91 skidoo mach 1 x, 92 formula plus x, 95 mxz 440, 3 toni hiakonen edition mxz's, 98 mxzx, 97 mxzx, 77 skidoo rv cross coutry, 77 skidoo Rv 340, 75 skidoo tnt 340FA, 97skidoo formula3LT, 06 800 skidoo summit, 08 skidoo tnt full trail mod with nos

The thing I have a problem with is when you are the first caller. Say you will take it. You are on your way. Have a dozen people offering more money. Then tell them they have a rare sled when they know they weren't the first caller. I had that happen on my 340/s and 84 Liquifire. The 340/s was probably pretty firm on the price but my 84 Liquifire was sitting in the front yard for a month the owner told me. I just happened to catch it on craigslist right away and he had OBO so there was some wiggle room until a Deere collecter from Fond Du Lac Wisconsin told him not to take a dime less. It was a fair price so I don't have much to complain about. I don't understand that. All I would say is I'd like to give my number and be the next on the list if they didn't show up or take it.

I would hate to hear something like that go to scrap though. I have to thank Jesse for seeing the 340/s on Vintage sleds and calling me. It was only a hour and a half away.

Like I stated in a post about a dual fill 340/S tank that I bought. For all of the guys who tried to undercut me to the seller, "Show me the money". Pay me the $700 dollars that you said it was worth.
Some other wise person stated on here before too, if you're not going to buy it, don't discuss price.

Merry Christmas.

I heard that two guys from Canada tried to trade some Canadian beer and some back bacon for it.
Their names were Bob and Doug.
