Coolant Temperture for a '78 440 Liquifire

Post by harleysportster »

You guys running a '78 Liquifire, what seems to be the normal coolant temperture once it is warmed up. I have a numbered gauge reading about 180 running around the field with marginal snow conditions. 180 in these gauges is near the top end of the green zone.

Like all farmers, takes a nap!
Harley, IF I remember right those are close to being 160-180 deg stats & also IF I remember right they did run real close to the top of the green, that's why I always used the Dator style gauges with the numbers so I knew right where it was...

Mine must have a thermostat stuck open or someone removed it altogether. It runs about 130 most of the time.

Thanks Kenny, I know more tomorrow in deeper snow. Our '76 Liquifire never ran much over 140 ish.

I took it out for another ride today. The outdoor temp was around 28 degrees. The snow condition was 6-8 inches and loose. The coolant temp balanced out around 140, so it looks like all is good.
