'81 LF Project Question 102C

Post by Flatlander »

I have restored several Kawasaki sleds but for some reason I have been drawn to the "green" side. Maybe it is the guys that create the warmth of family in this group or maybe the midwestern upbringing and the prestige of a "JD"......I am currently putting a '81 l/F together on the way to a complete line-up of 80-84's and am ready to drop the clutch on. I picked up a couple AM55325 102c kits and wanted to know the thoughts of dropping them in my 102c's......

Here is a link to the current kits on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHN-DEERE-LIQU ... 987wt_1091

The 102C that I plan to run in this machine has a silver spring.

I am running Invader heads but everything else is stock.

Question #1
Does this weight kit work with everything else stock?
Does this kit work with a silver spring?
My manual does not include this AM55325 in the chart of weights?

I have a basic understanding of clutching and the payoffs associated with preformance.....

I appreciate all advice and welcome all comments.

I think that is good information. We are at 1360 and google says Duluth is at 600. Does that 700' matter? Does 1700' matter? I am curious as to why the AM55325 isn't included in the chart of available weight kits? Was it only available after the '81 and before the TR-800?

I dont no when it was avl. but I think whith that light of weight you will be too high rpm. The silver spring, I think is stock for the 76-77s. Did you download the fine tune man. on vintagesleds theres a lot of good info in it.

A friend of mine who taught me more about fine tuning clutches helped me out with my 1980 Liquifire and here's what i run in it and it seems to like it. With some carburetor calibration recommendations from a person experienced with the '80 Liquifires, she works pretty good with none of the typical bog that those machines exhibited.
I'm running a red spring in the primary with 54 gram weights - the profile i cannot remember - i would have to pull it apart and have a look.

If you are going to use the "B "weights, use a purple spring. With that setup, the engagement is 4400 to 4600 from sea level to 4,000ft with 2 spacers in the primary and a 44 degree secondary cam.

I will be there.
Won't get there till about noon and have to leave about 3.

Might take the Liquifire with the Liquidator seat. Depends on a couple things.

Don, You just passed your first Canadian Citizenship test - You broke the "encrypted code" (invite of one Canadian inviting the other one to have a coffee and sit and BS for a while!)

I sill have yet to figure out why we will use "eh" only "vocally" and refuse to type it on the keyboard..........

If it will make you happy, here you go:

"Hey Lloyd, if ur gonna be at Stratford show on Saturday, we whould get together for a Timmie's eh?"

STUDS!!!??? Nope :naughty:

Those are P/N AM567803 - Highly sought after factory experimental John Deere attachment developed secretly in Horicon for the 80-84 Liquifire. Used for aerating the lawn.
