Airbox question.
Airbox question.
What is the purpose of an airbox? Is it just an airfilter or is there another purpose? I see people requesting them in the classifieds section so I thought I would ask. I have an 83 snowfire/340.
Re: Airbox question.
From what i know they aren't so much an air filter as they are an air silencer. Without one installed the rush of air into the carbs is quite noisy. If you are to run without them i believe (someone correct me if i'm wrong) would require some jetting changes. With it installed there is a bit of air restriction, and without could cause a more lean condition with the easier path of air flow.

Re: Airbox question.
From what I was told as kreechur said, They just silence the air intake. There is no need for a filter because there is no dirt or dust in the snow.

Thanks for the replies. When I bought this sled it was off so I guess I will put it on and see what happens.
