Thanks, i will keep them in mind. likely will be staying 36mm though, I may be going flat slide for better throttle response.

I did some measurments today for the flat slide carb. Looks like it may be a tight fit, I didnt realize the mag side carb pretty much rests on the steering colum!! &%#) 
The overall height is a bigger dimension, so if its anymore than 3mm longer on the bottom I will have a problem. Looks Like I may be staying with the VM36 round slide carbs afterall

Well my friend that races and wrenches for a pro team says it will be added throttle response because it's a shorter carb, less distance for the fuel to travel on demand. If the flat slide carb is only taller not longer it will work. There's not very good info online for these. Being its a big name like Mikuni you would think they would have better literature.

I can tell you from my own personal experiance that my 80 l/f has 40s on it and works great, this is not a stock engine though, its an ice oval sled, if you want to learn a bit more about carbs and jetting then find a copy of the arctic cat 75 z competition manuel, the z is also a t7, and when you put a degree wheel on a 75 z 440 and a 80 l/f they are extremly close to each other (hint hint for anyone looking to mod a liquifire)

Also as danzig said the aaen book is a must have! !!! You really should have a good basic knowledge of carbs and testing procedures before you dive into his books or else you will be more confused than before lol!
