PPG Paint Code

Post by eddingsj »

Does anyone happen to have the PPG paint code for the Case B17567N that can be used on the Trailfires?

Thanks

Ok, so I bought some Case/IH silver/ardent paint from my local Case dealer because I couldn't cross reference the Case Paint to a PPG. However, my buddy at shop that is going to spray the frame and hood for me states that this paint will not accept a clear coat. So I am back to square one! I have some books from PPG that my buddy gave me to look through and I am going to try and match it to a sample I sprayed out of a can of Case/IH B17567N.

Has anyone sprayed their sled with a silver/ardent color from PPG that was a very close match to the original JD Winterfrost II that could provide me with the color/code they used.

Thanks in advance

I used Napa's Crossfire paint line and had good luck with it. The paint was Crossfire silver metallic. The code was 53-42159-00-B, but it is a single stage enamel, not base/clear. I had good luck and thought it matched fairly well. You could probably use the code and get it in base/clear if you want. The size of metal flake was a little smaller than factory, but the color was quite close. Here is a couple pictures of a sled I did with this paint. The tunnel and belly pan are original, and the hood is repainted to give you a comparison.

Brock,

I was able to take the information you provided me down to my local auto paint store and they sprayed out a card for me. It was perfect and is going to work just fine for my application.

Thnak you for providing me that information, it made my search for the correct color paint a lot easier.

One less thing to worry about on this rebuild!
