I replaced cdi. I think I am going to look at pilots another guy said the same thing. Can't wait to get back on snowed for four days here. Perfect conditions for sledding. Is a jdx8 a 400cc?

If that '82 has the OEM secondary, the belt width new is supposed to be 1-3/8". The JDX8 had a 440cc engine.

OK, while we're on the topic of engine temps for liquifires, I have an 81 LF that no longer has the original temp gauge, it is the graduating numbers style. My question is on the original gauge, what is the temp range of 'normal' (in the black) and what is the temperature when it reaches the red zone on the original gauge. I want to be able to convert this over to the new gauge and have confidence I'm not overheating. New gauge is a Sunpro and starts at 100 and goes up to 250 degrees.

The Fire Series Liquifires used the color coded temp gauge. You can use a number temp guage if you like. This is from the Kawi service manual.

Thanks Harley.
The numbered gauge is what it came with. I assume from the diagram the temp ranges are all the same for different manufacturers?? So the red zone on the JD's start at 200 degrees correct?

Larger version of that photo: Image

The red zone starts at 230 which is about the boiling point of antifreeze. Normal operating temp about 150.

Thanks everybody for the inputs!
I was running on very marginal trails this past week due to the 40+ temps we had and my temp gauge got up to 160 degrees. First time it ever got that warm so I was a little concerned when I lost power going up a steep hill. I shut it off and let it cool down, changed plugs and belt. It fired up first pull and ran great all the way home. Shut it off again then went back out about an hour later and it did not want to idle. Not sure whats going on.
