Interest in JDM-81 Clutch Align Tool build?

Post by Norton »

I am wondering out loud about the interest out there of having the JDM-81 Clutch Alignment Tool made. It would machined within the tolerances of the day and of the same material. (See Deere SM-2108 50-20-2). Price range would be a GUESS at this point but would $100 to $200 each, cause you to take interest and have one on the shop wall? I do not have the time or money to have 20 made and sell them as folks have a need. So at this stage leave a post for all to see (no PM's) and find out what kind of numbers we would be looking at. With that, I will be able to get a better estimate of the cost per tool. I have 3 spoken for at this writing.

I could use one. I could also use one for LF/SF/TF and maybe Spitfire.

This tool works for all Trailfire, Sportfire and Liquifire sleds equipped with the 102c comet. (not sure about the tr800) The Spitfire and Sprintfire use another alignment tool similar but is over built for some reason?

I will make it a point to take mine to the shop Tuesday and see if it can be reproduced cost effectively. What do you guys think you should pay?

Hello DA,
The guys I have talked to were "OK" in the $100 to $175 range. Heck, a new belt is 50+! Reading over these posts the build numbers would be about 10??

My friend that owns the shop is out of the country and his employee is really swamped right now. I showed him the tool and he feels like we need to wait until Steve gets home. Unfortunately I'm leaving in a week and will be gone for two weeks. I'll get in touch with Steve on my return and see what he thinks about the project.
