1982 Sportfire snuck onto the Trailer
I have been looking for a sporty and then just happen to literally open the barn door and see this one, the owner said he had a Trailfire and when I opened the door she was no TF! The owner wasn't terribly eager to sell it but I made him a reasonable offer that would of got him out of bed in -20 below weather lol. She has pretty neat custom striping and the all rubber track in good shape and square headlight. Comet 102 but no hsr, no air scoop and no airbox but JD Rob has a box coming to me! and Matt can help me out with a fixer upper scoop. She has spark and an original sport windshield! Yesterday I checked compression and she has 151/151. She fired on a Lil fuel down the plug holes. Oil injection I'd not hooked up on her. Original white sealant around case so seals are getting done! Matt which crank seals will I need for her?

Seals are OS1302R and OS1317R. I'll dig out that scoop and send you a photo so you can see what you're up against.

Allen,
BE CAREFUL! This is how the addiction takes hold, LOL! Nice find on the 82 Sporty. The Trailfire seat is probably what threw the owner off. I like the 82-84 Sports for the oil injection, rubber track and the wheel kit.
Have fun with it,
-Joe

Allan I am no expert of Sportys but the rail wheel comes no where close to making contact with the track.
Is something amiss here?

Re: 1982 Sportfire snuck onto the Trailer
Todd Do we think that it is either the wrong diameter wheels being used on the wheel kit? I looked at it today and just from a glance I cant pin point any other wrong reason that the wheels aren't touching the rubber, everything looks to be located and sitting correctly. Also anyone know what is up with those tri bolted brackets on the tunnel??? Was this a two up sporty back in the day?

Re: 1982 Sportfire snuck onto the Trailer
The sportfires all had a single seat without the passenger handles. The seat was switched to a trailfire seat and the handles were added. More than likely, the holes for the handles were already there, just covered over by the decals.
