Lic-A-Dee Split I
Re: Lic-A-Dee Split I
I think it adds personality to it Matt.
Looks like a great project.

Re: Lic-A-Dee Split I
I have not made much progress, but I have decided that I'm not going with the stock suspension and track. I picked up a parts sled - an '88 Polaris Indy to be the donor.

Re: Lic-A-Dee Split I
Way to go Matt!! Make it "your" sled and it's a very cool sled at that.

Nice Sled! Good luck with the suspension swap.

Are you going to use the Polaris track as well?

Re: Lic-A-Dee Split I
Yes, I'm using the Polaris track. It happens to use the same drive pitch as the original, but the drivers will need to be moved about 2" in on each side, and I'll need to add a set of outer half-drivers or just round wheels to support the outer edge of the track.
The Polaris driveshaft was a little too long, but possibly could have worked, however the drivers are a larger diameter, and I think track clearance in the front of the tunnel would be an issue.

Re: Lic-A-Dee Split I
What size was the Indy? Not all of them have the outer wheels. Usually the 500 cc and less sleds just have the 2 drivers.

650 triple. Do you think I could position the drivers to the outside lugs of the track and be OK?ljm wrote:What size was the Indy? Not all of them have the outer wheels. Usually the 500 cc and less sleds just have the 2 drivers.

Re: Lic-A-Dee Split I
My 400 Indy and at least some of the 500 indy's position the drivers to the inside lugs.
I think you would be fine using either sets.
I plan on just using the inside lugs on my 4/6 Liquifire project

Re: Lic-A-Dee Split I
With only the inner I would think consistent track alignment would be a problem.
