1981 LF Build/Restoration (will be for sale)

Post by 427cobra »

Well its finally time to start putting this sled back together!

When I am done I plan to sell it to fund some other projects I have on my plate... :beers;

So far:

Primary is rebuilt with a NOS purple spring, new weight bushings, and all cleaned up!
Secondary is rebuilt with new ramp slides, NOS Cam, & cleaned up
Ski assemblies are all assembled new wear pads installed, good carbides, & fresh paint
Rear suspension all rebuilt with grease zerks, hyfax, reinforced REAR arm, new idler bearing, etc...

Engine is done with: fresh crankshaft from Jerome, new water pump bearings, new SPI pistons, JD Gaskets, NEW crank seals, HSR ignition, rebuilt recoil.....

Tunnel is polished and bulkhead cleaned up and painted.

Here are a few pics...

Lots of elbow grease. Stated with wet sanding working my way finer and finer until all the scratches were gone. I used WD40 for the liquid. (Not sure if that makes a difference)

Then finishing off with a mother's power ball.

Plans for this weekend...

First get the chain case installed, TPRs, and skis. Then move onto the track, track drive, & suspension installation.

The track is fully picked so tunnel protectors are installed as well (Hyfax).

The hood a fresh coat of black along with a recovered seat from John's is waiting to be installed.

I plan on installing a 82' fuel tank that has the lockable door. Should start coming together quickly if its not too hot in the garage! The cleaning and painting of all the parts takes up most of the time... :bonk:

Thanks!

Gears & chain installed, bumper installed, rear tow hitch installed, rear grab bar & flap installed…

You guys have any input on whether or not I should install hydraulic brakes…??? Would that be a “selling feature”?? OR should I just install the stock mechanical brakes?
