Re: 2016 ride with the champs
I'm planning on going and looking forward to meeting more of the Deere brothers as my modern sled buddies call us.

Re: 2016 ride with the champs
Just curious since i havent been on the RWC, do most of the Deere guys do the vintage challenge or the swamp challenge? Im not worried about doing either just was cautioned that the rides do fill up and dont want to be left out. Thanks Jim

Re: 2016 ride with the champs
I was late to sign up for the swamp ride and got lucky Craig (leader for that pack) still said I could join. 42 ppl started 39 finished.
Joe Rainville does the vintage challenge. So it's all in who you want to ride with.
It was my first time last year and I asked the few ppl I knew where they signed up and followed suit

Re: 2016 ride with the champs
There were JDs in every group last year. Plenty in both Swamp and VC. We had about 6 in Boulder Junction.

Re: 2016 ride with the champs
We should wait on the official word but I don't think Joe R will be leading a group in 2016 as he will be either an expectant father or new father about that same time. I've not heard officially who'll be leading the VC. The Swamp Challenge fills the fastest as it's a very popular ride. There is a new Yamaha ride for 2016 in an effort to challenge the number of John Deeres at RWTC. Consider arriving earlier in the week and riding with Bob and Marna, myself, and Sean Motter on Thursday. First things first though..................start hoping for snow and frozen lakes!!!! Oh, and don't forget the Friday Night Fish Fry where the John Deere contingent will be making and exciting announcement!!!

Re: 2016 ride with the champs
Great to see more members joining the Ride with the Champs. As Don said, Cari Deerest and I are expecting a baby boy in mid-February. This will make attending the RWC a very low probability. However, we have lined up a guide and working on back ups. Great thing about guiding the 150+ mile Vintage Challenge is that about half to 2/3rds of the riders have done the ride before and we all work together to get everyone up north to Fishtails and back. Last year we only had one breakdown out of 20 sleds, the lowest attrition rate since it's inception in 2009.
I wish everyone a great ride in the likely event I do not make it. Don't forget about "Katie's Bogie Bash" to Bent's Camp Friday morning, as a warm up to the VC.
Later Liquidator!

Re: 2016 ride with the champs
Lindork, thank you so much for volunteering! On behalf of the Snowmobile Hall of Fame and the Vintage Challenge Committee, I accept your request to be the official guide for the 8th annual Vintage Challenge of 2016. I am sure you won't miss the left turn back toward St. Germain again, and your rock solid JDX-8 will be more than up for the 150 mile adventure.400brian wrote:I'm really glad to hear a guide has been lined up, I feared I was going to get volunteered!
At the completion of this years ride, you will have nearly done 1,100 miles on the VC since 2009. (would have been 1,200 miles if we didn't cut it short in 2011)
Thanks again for your willingness to stand up and support the Hall of Fame!

Re: 2016 ride with the champs
I'm not sure putting the guy on the oldest slowest sled on the point is the best idea. However, we'll work something out.
Anyone want to go for a ride?
