Liquifire Help needed

Post by twinkies »

Hi guys, need your help, I have a 1976 440 Liquifire, the engine will not rev up, it backfire and pops, I have cleaned the carbs, drained the gas, I checked the reeds, new plugs, the exhaust is not plugged, can anyone help, the carbs were nice and clean but I went through them anyway. I forgot to add that the sled seems like it is missing even when it is idleling.

it sounds like your timming is off,it might be that it is fireing premiturly I beleve there is a way to advance your spark but not sure how I have the 340 76 liquifire but like you I dont have a lot of experiance in this area I would recomend that you get a service manual for your sled you can generaly find them on ebay for bout 25 to 30 bucks there are a few guys on here that I am sure know how to resolve this problem .

Twinkies,
Checking the timing is not an easy task if you are not experienced. Before condeming the timing, check the ignition system following this guide. It sounds like you have an intermident spark.

Twinkies,
Technically, you should have B10's, but the B9's will work, just watch the plug color. The 9's are 1 step hotter.
