Liquifire mufflers

Post by tmartin »

Did the mufflers change at all from 1980 to 1984 on the Liquifire line?? I purchased one that's marked "83 Liquifire" but it does not resemble my 1980 muffler. Can anyone shed some light on this??

Could it be possible one has muffler off a Invader. I don't remember what the Invaders looked like though either but wondered if they were different and would help for more power.

Even the Trail and Sportfie mufflers look the same, Except for the L welded in them

The welded "L" is the only visible way to distinguish between the two types, and they are not interchangeable.

That's what I thought. My old one has the "L" and the one shipped to me does not. Welp, back to the drawing Board I guess.

Liquifire muffler has the "L" the others don't and they won't interchange.

The invader muffler is similar but has a large bulge on the bottom side, I have a couple LF mufflers if you want to PM me. Jim

Back in the day it was said that the "L" welded on the Liquifire pipe was just that!! Liquifire, and others said "L" was for LOW RESTRICTION...Rob.
