Glen, I don't mean any dis-respect but the last half of your post does not make any sense to me and was a bit painful to read. Just a thought, I do have Guys coming from Saskatchewan to my house seams like every couple months. <They were just here again yesterday>. If you cant get this running correctly, send the sled along with them and have it dropped off at my place. I will take care of your tuning issues and send it back in a timely manner. <no pun intended>

The speed and RPM you are describing sounds about right. Now that you mention it, I think I had my trigger ring turned to the very end of the cap screw slots as well. Don Amber was able to cross reference a Napa belt that is a replacement. Hopefully he will post the belt number. On your flywheel, I'm wondering if any Kioritz CDI flywheel would work? They show them as a different part number but it may only be due to the starter ring gear? It may be possible the Cyclone or Liquifire flywheel might work. You would have to remove the starter ring gear to fit. The stators should be the same.

Troy
Brock Weber, check your 340S supply I think there's a NAPA belt in there. If so, can you give Glen the number?

Thanks for the help again. Chuck I would take you up on that offer , but the logistics make it pretty difficult.
I picked up a seized 340 S Engine last year, so I pulled the flywheel out of it today and it appears to be OK.
I picked up a new stater last year for a cyclone and hopefully I can do that again . I could also get a belt through Napa again but the last one only lasted 50 miles so I've been considering using the belt out of the seized engine as it looks like it's the original belt and appears to be in good shape . When I was replacing The stator today I noticed there was a little bit of play in the fan and it was kind of oily around there. The grease was coming out of the bearings and the outer part of the bearing is little loose in the housing.I replace the bearings last year with number 62042 RS C3...RBL made in China . I checked the original bearing that I took out last year and the number is 6204V made by NSK . Maybe the bearings that I put in last year are not high-speed ,high heat and that is maybe why the belt started to shred also??? If that's a possibility does anyone know if the original type bearings are available ? If not I will probably put the original bearings back in .
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Glen

I believe Rainville has NOS ones. I have been replacing mine with NOS I bought from DK years ago with no problems to date.

Chuck, I was hoping to meet you in St.Germain at the RWTC ; show you pictures & explain to you what I meant about the timing marks on the 340S. The 5 marks on the timing ring are factory and you can see in the picture they don't come any where close to lining up with the mark on the case. So I made my own marks for reference.

This is the sled I had on the farm that John Deere Canada wanted me to ride while at home to keep in shape. But seeing there was a race almost every weekend, I was rarely home to ride it. There would have been very few miles put on it,so would be interested to know what happened to it. Hopefully it wasn't one that got crushed.

In a previous post someone suggested that the Green truck I brought the 340S home in pieces a couple years ago was maybe the truck that I hauled it in when it was new. This Pink truck was the one I hauled it around in when it was new.

Very cool pictures and story Glen! I don't know how you got that heavy sled in the back of your truck. Looks like there is an additional hood vent for clutch cooling?

It's all about hydraulic power when you have to lift one of those any higher than six inches.

Found these bills in the attic for snowmobiles I owned & raced. If anyone knows of their where-abouts please let me know. Thanks, Glen

Having trouble posting with the iPad and netbook, as soon as we try and post something it knocks us off being logged in and can't post anything not even at pm. We deleted the cookies and we are still having trouble with the iPad and the netbook so I will try and post with my iPhone. PM Matt and he's suggested that we delete the cookies and it doesn't seem to be working and he said if we had trouble he would help us with it and I will try and contact him again if I can get the PM to work!

This is the last of the John Deere's sleds except I still have the 340S. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the other sleds, please let me know. Thanks, Glen

Matt we did as instructed and still could not get a post on without losing the login. So we went over the neighbors and used his computer and after many tries ,getting knocked off we were able to finally get another posting . I will try and send this to see if it goes through without being logged off automatically .
