Re: Comet Clutch talk
Maybe Matt can get the bushing through Automatic Distributors. The genuine Comet front cover bushing is on page 682 of the 2017 snow catalog. Comet # 211286.

Re: Comet Clutch talk
I'm a direct CPC/Comet dealer and I have a contact who got the TR800 bushings put back into production. I'm sure they could do these too if there is demand.

Re: Comet Clutch talk
It also says those bushings do not fit the staked-in covers. But, you have to wonder if that is true.
Matt, could you get the dimensions of THAT bushing ( 211286 ) from CPC, so we can see how it compares?

Brian, I just sent an e-mail to my contact asking about the correct part numbers and availability for our version of the 102C, I'm sure he can point us in the right direction.

Re: Comet Clutch talk
Here is the info from CPC:
The cover plate bushing for these old style 102C is actually PN 211286A and the kit comes with the bushing, 2 retaining rings, and a small bag of Loctite. The bushing is set to accept a 1-1/8” diameter post and has an OD of 1-3/8”
We would have the movable face bushing as well, which would be PN 213265A. This bearing would slide over a post with a diameter roughly 1.637” which would be the diameter of the post nearest the fixed face. The OD of the bushing would fit into a pocket roughly 1.880” wide.
I can order these directly from them if anyone needs them now.

Re: Comet Clutch talk
Matt, I got a question with the bushings for these "staked" cover plates. How would the two retaining rings work in these covers? Is there supposed to be a groove they lock into? Or are they supposed to sit between the bushing and the 4 detents that were punched? If that's the case, I don't think there is enough room to fit two retaining rings, or a place to lock-in. Might be missing something.

I have no idea, but I ordered a couple of the bushings so I'll try it.

Re: Comet Clutch talk
At this point I am pretty sure you are going to toss the rings, and just Locktite and stake the bushing in. They made a cover at one time that apparently used the rings. I was going to order a bushing and try it Matt, but if you are willing to test it, party on!

Re: Comet Clutch talk
I agree, probably ditch the rings. If they made the newer covers with the rings I could see it being a better design. I know the bushing didn't move originally being staked in, but since I removed the original, not quite sure how "locked-in" the new one is until it's driving a sled. We'll see.

I think you could use Loc-Tite " Green, Sleeve retainer " Making sure everything is real clean & let set for 24 Hrs. to cure...

Re: Comet Clutch talk
I got the bushings today and this was the documentation with it if this helps at all. I'll have to pull the 102c off the 800 before I can test fit.

Re: Comet Clutch talk
Matt, did you get the bushing for movable sheave or the top cover? The directions are for the movable sheave. The beginning of the post is about the staked bushing of the top cover.
Confused?
