Had a good day. A 82 liquifire and two 80’s liquifires. Two have engines the 82 missing pieces of engine but i have spare.

That's great....seem to be a lot of 82s surfacing. Hope you also got the HSR with 82.

The 82 and up sleds had a different ignition system know as HSR (High Speed Retard). The coil and CDI box is one unit, the flywheel and stator coils are different and the flywheel housing is different for mounting the CDI coil combo unit. Functionally, these boxes do what the name implies, they retard the ignition timing at high RPM. Basically makes the engine easier to start and then at high speed dials back the ignition timing to reduce the likelihood of burning it down.

I have everything but the crankcase which he is still looking for. My opinion, having the casting that covers the flywheel would be pretty important since it is a unique piece. The two case halves I don't think are as important, I've added the holes for e-start to 80 cases. If you do a good job it would be very hard to tell a difference between an 80 case and an 82 case.
