Got the motor out last night - aside from the feathers and barn dust it’s actually quite clean grease/oil wise. Looks to have never been apart. Looking through the exhaust pistons look really good which is promising.

Now to blow/clean it off then I’ll start splitting the case to reseal the bottom end.

Got the motor mostly cleaned up - wanted to get the majority of the grease off before I split the case. Need to take the flywheel nut off - didn’t quite have the right socket, is it a 22mm?

Got the engine resealed, just running new oil lines and replacing the fan bearings.

Chassis is mostly cleaned up - used some por15 then some flat black engine paint to clean it up.

Most of the feathers and barn dust is gone finally, I regret not pressure washing it in the summer, had to do it all slowly by hand and bucket.

Made some progress, engine is all resealed and installed, painted up the exhaust manifold and cleaned/pressure washed the gas tank out.

Bit of an update - got the skid out and replaced all the bearings. Was going to just put it back together but couldn’t bring myself to not clean it up. After lots of sanding and soaking the springs in evaporust got it all primed and painted.

Pieces drying :

All that’s left is painting the slide rails - any tips or tricks to get the paint to stick / last?
IMG_5523.jpeg
One slider was worn right through it wore a hair on the rail but it looks is like there’s enough there to grab the new slider .

Finally had some time to make some headway - got the skid finally back in one piece, a bit of chipped paint getting it all together but much better than before .
