JDXspec: One of the Dator mods for the carbs was to remove the hoses off the Plastic T fitting on the top of the air ram that was hooked to the carb bowl vents ( the air moving through the intake ram was pulling gas out of the carb bowl) then turn the bowl vents downward & use a short piece of hose on them to vent the bowl, then remove the white plastic T from the top of the Carb intake ram tube & put in a cut off a hex headed screw (so it was flush with the inside of the air ram & didn't protrude into the carb air intake) in the hole so all intake air had to come through the air box. I saw that one of the carbs still had the Plastic T on it.
Also did you remember to bleed all the air out of the cooling system? (Bleed holes are on the head & on the thermastat housing) sometimes you have to do that to get all the air out of the system, this is very important for when you get too operating temp, as a air lock will cause overheating.

Cool, I was wondering on the tee fitting, never saw one before. the mag side was done already. I just have not gotten to remove the tee yet. I did not bleed the air yet but i will be before it goes out on a ride, and I will have the airbox on too. I only had the temp up to 120-130 in the shop. It ran surprising well for being untuned and dormant for 25+ yrs

AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHH

Sorry I had to vent a bit. When I had the dator running it seemed to have a rumble a low idle that I though went away when it sped up some. Well I Investigated and found that 4 of 6 main bearings make some noise. (I guess from sitting all those yrs) It was the 2 PTO side ones that were ok yet. So I guess I need to put in my spare crank I wish I didn't have to use <_< . But on the bright side I have one and it was resonably priced on ebay couple wks ago

Yes....Paul said "Let her eat" and guess what.....she ate and barfed! Vixens....all of them! And to think I am going to trust my 78 year father on one in 2 weeks! I'll have Brian breath on her and then kick her in the snowflap and hope she behaves for 20 miles if not she's going in the trailer and then the shop for another 30 years.....put the crank inplant in and then she will have a piston problem then CDI...... Never ends.......remember 7 in one day, a all time Liquidator record ! Only sled in the world that will slide upside down in a ditch for 100 ft and roll over to win the race......if it decides to race! Orange head bolt paint reminds me of the I-500, shes probably still mad about all the 340 Starfires she had to line up with and they were pouches!

You'll kick yourself, although not many saw it. The visit counter is at 20 for 7 day. It was a Dator crank. It might be more than reasonable as hard as they are to find. (and good as this one is)
