295/S Snowflap Part # M65186

Post by 340s »

Hi Kenny,

My 295s is in my dad's garage right now. I can get a good pic in a couple of days but to give you an idea, here's a pic for now that you can enlarge. Its material is just like the 340/s original flap, and is nothing special to look at.

On that note, I am looking for a couple of 'leaping deere' flaps for my x8. Anyone got a couple for sale? Or repops?

Thanks,
Craig

Mark, Yes I will need pictures for one of those also (340/S), (Also does it have the Part # stamped into the flap someplace???) Unless you want to SELL me that one???? call me 612-325-8527

Craig, Are you sure that is an original 295/S flap?? I don't know what they are suppose to look like???? That is why I was hoping someone had a NOS one so we would now exactly what they looked like.....

I found a Deere flap today that is plan (no running Deere) with either 295/S or 340/S paint on the back But I do remember taking it off a 295/S tunnel. It has the shape of a running Deere flap (only thinner).... were they used on the 295/S??? or was the OE 295/S flaps shaped different like the 100 series were????

The one I found was about the same outside shape as the running Deere ones, Might be a little smaller, but for sure not a 340/S not that long.
Now I'm really confused
Craig, you have a picture of that 295/S from the back????

Hi Kenny,

Sorry I think i might have confused you and myself too LOL. I meant to say I think the 295/s and 340/s flaps are both 'plain' with nothing on them. But, I THINK the 295/s flap and the 'leaping deer' flap such as on the '73 x8 are the same size. The 340/s one is a little wider, more like the dator leaping deere one. I could be wrong though and so i wouldn't bet the farm on it. I will get an actual measurement for you in the next couple days unless someone can clear it up for 100% for us.

Craig, the original 340/S one if I remember right was longer & drug on the ground just like the one in you photo & was a different shape than the replacement leaping/ running Deere for it....

Although the one that I have might have been a cut down version of the first gen 340/S flap???? I'm just guessing though

Hi Kenny,

This is the best photo I have of an original 295/S snow flap. It's a totally different shape than the one used on the 00/JDX series sleds and outside shape is similar to the 340/S and later model Deeres. As previously stated, it's plain with no logo and look's a lot like a 340/S flap. But, I've never put them side by side to see how close they really are.

Jim

Jim, that is more like the one I have, at least from what I can tell from the angle ...

Hi guys,

I measured the flap on my 340/s this morning and took a good picture. The measurements are a height of 14 3/8"x width of 15" (across the top where flap mounts).

The flap also has a width of 21 1/4" across the bottom at its widest point. I agree that this flap is probably a little longer than the leaping deere ones since the 340/s flap drags on the snow (it doesn't touch the floor in this pic since I have the sled elevated a little). I think the dragging on the snow explains why the flap has curled up a little at the bottom as you can see in the pic.

Man I'd like to track down one of these someday! Hope this helps out. I'll get a pic of the 295/s flap and measurements this weekend.

Craig

Craig, I'm looking for the right material, if found, we will have some by winter.. For both the 295/S & 340/S, That is as long as I can come up with a good 340/S one to pattern off of.... Unless someone else has something in the works??? Speak now or forever hold your peace!

Hey Kenny,

Great idea to do up the flaps! My 340/s flap isn't perfect but my 295/s flap may be pretty darn good still. Should these flaps be of any use to help you out, just let me know and they're yours to use for a pattern.

Craig :beers;

I have one of Wanie's leaping Deere flaps on my 340S at the moment.

If lower the suspension ( and I plan to ), then it will be a bit short.

I have what appears to be an original flap on the other machine.
