Bob boring and plating will run you $350 minimum.

Looking for a used engine would be cheaper.

I have 2 sets of these PU ring sets that I've yet to try fitting on the original Kawasaki pistons. I bought a set from Image a number of years ago that did fit on original Kawi pistons, but I have no idea if these were PU, or original Kawi/Deere rings since they were only shipped in a non-descript box with wax paper.

After reading this, I'm wondering about what I have.

OK. I have 3 Proposals laid out in front of me 2 of them giving by my parents. 1. Part the sled out and cut my losses. 2. Put it back together the way it is and leave it. 3. My plan, find used better jugs and maybe one piston for trade on some parts. I would like to go with the third option but I don't know who might have some. I SHOULD just cut my losses but its my first sled and I really want to fix it so I can ride it. I also thought of just slapping it back together and letting it burn down within a month. I am still going to do the lower end and clean it all up and do a nice job so All I will need to do is slap a new top end on it.

It's your choice Bob.

It seems to me, that the only thing you are lacking is money. That problem shouldn't be a long term one, once you get out of school.

If storage isn't a problem, pickle the sled until you can afford to fix it.

A lightly used X8 would solve your current issues ( something to ride ).

I will clean up the entire thing fix a few problems here and there and hold off on putting the new stuff in till next year. I do need something to ride that is only going to cost me like 400 dollars at the most. :D I cant ride bitch to my mom this year. Its too small and too unstable.

Bob, I still have an 82 Sportfire (has the Liquifire track) with a NOS Trailfire 440 engine in it. The engine has maybe 25 miles on it. The sled is oil injected and has electric start. Runs good, though the gas in it is a couple years old. I am going to be thinning my herd a little and was going to ask for $500 on craiglist in another month or so, but if you're interested I would sell it to you for $400. This way you can keep your LF and fix it once you have the money to do so, and in the meantime, still be able to ride a Deere. If you're interested, send me an e-mail. I can try and get you a couple pics this weekend.

Thanks I will have to run it buy the parents. I am pretty sure I already know the answer though. I might sell off my parts motor to get some cash. I will let you know.

Well It's a no go on the Sled but I looked at my parts and I found a Jug that is in pretty darn good shape. I am going to try and clean them with the Muriatic (SP?) Acid and see if they clean up better. How do I clean it again so I don't ruin it. :D Also I might need on more cylinder. And all new Pistons etc. Pic of the parts Jug. You think the lines will make a difference?
