DA,
Good to talk to you today. I poured through my parts, and here's what I found. I've got a butt load of Speedo drive keys. My angle drives are all 2:1 and backwards rotation for the DD sleds. I've got a very nice original key switch with a non-faded nut. The key is universal and you can pick it up at any locksmith shop, or JD dealer. All of my original Deere keys with the "JOHN DEERE" etched on them are rusty. I've got a used taillight assy that is in great shape. There's no paint separation or rust, but if memory serves me, it's on the shelf due to a grounding issue causing an intermittent light. I'll try to test it on the Liquifire in the near future. They are still available w/lens through Deere for around $20 for a last resort. Those skis I have are the 10-24s we were talking about...rats! The chaincase seal is the same as Polaris part# 5411497. It's better to go with a new one vs. one that's been in a bag for 30 years. If you guys find parts in catalogs such as DK, let me know and I'll get them to you cheaper. If PJ can't get a deal on engine parts, let me know. I can get teflon crank seals for most Kawi JDs as well. I've got a beautiful KPH speedo with around 1500km on it. I've got a nice 8000rpm tach from the Xs/Os. You could probably make that work on the sporty harness. Check w/ some of the guys who bought a lot of DKtrader parts. I remember seeing a bunch of wiring harnesses sold back then. Other things to look at....Spindle bushings, leaf spring shackles (are they loose?), Horicon joes handy dandy spring sliders, matching up the shocks to ones w/ the same dimensions (I always use '72 A/C Lynx shocks for the front and then I swap the bushings...new shocks are better for chrome to adhere to as well), hood foam or heat tape (I'd opt for heat tape. It's $50 per roll and should do 4 or 5 hoods) and the motor mount rubbers. Count me in for a good length of 1/4", 3/16" and 1/8" fuel line for the PJ circuit, Overflows and main lines and a filter for sure. Good luck commish and crew!

FYI on the angle drives: They need to be for a Liquifire, Sportfire or Trailfire. The Spit/Snow/Sprints are made to go in the opposite direction because they are mounted on the opposite side of the tunnel and the rotation of the driveshaft in relation to the drive is opposite. They should have an arrow engraved on them as well as a ratio. There are 2 different ratios are for MPH and KPH.

Hey Don,

I just won a Trailfire Speedo Kit off Evil Bay. I will donate the entire kit for the Sportfire. This includes the hardware, drive, cable, english 80 mph speedo, etc.

I also have several good drive shaft assy's with good sprockets. I will donate the best one to the project.

Excellent, thanks as always.!! Lindner has accepted the responsiblity of polishing the chaincase and cover! Thanks Brian. Would anyone be close enough to a Polaris dealer to buy the chaincase seal (Polaris part# 5411497) that Jack mentioned in an earlier post and mail it to me? DA

Don,

I have a bunch of NOS Deere chain case seals. While I generally agree with Jack about the hardening of 30 year old rubber (ie: NOS crank seals), I think the ones I have are in pretty good shape, still soft and plyable.

I will toss one in with your next parts shipement.
