Re: Liquifire recoil cup?
I'm not sure what a AM55209 is off of, but it's not one of the 80-84 liquifire parts, so I would have to say no it wouldn't fit..
BUT with that said, if you have both of the parts new & old set them side by side & compare them, if they are dead on identical then it will work..
What part are you calling the recoil cup? " the part that bolts to the flywheel that the recoil Engages into" ? That Deere calls a pulley in the Liquifire parts book...

Re: Liquifire recoil cup?
The part that the recoil engages into. I am building an Invader engine and all the recoil cups that I have are all chewed up. So I am looking for a NOS one. There are some on ebay with the part number AM55209. I was wondering if they would work. I am unable to compare, and was hoping to determine if it would work before I bought it...
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Liquifire recoil cup?
JDparts online says that number is for Sportfire only.
As the Sporty used the T-7 engine I would say it would not fit.

Re: Liquifire recoil cup?
Here is a couple of pics to show the difference. The one on the left is from a Sportfire, the one on the right is from a 1980 Invader 4/6. Everything is the same except the Sportfire has the tabs on the side. I'm assuming the tabs can be used to wrap a rope around to start the engine, if the recoil goes out, but I am not sure on that. Hope this helps.

There seems to be a difference in the Sportfire with oil injection also. I took a pic of one from an 82 Sportfire with oil injection, it is on the right. The one on the left is from a Sportfire engine with out oil injection. That should make it as clear as mud now.

Looks like the best bet would be to compair the two side by side as you have in the photo.

The ones on ebay have the tabs on them. I think they will fit... I am going to buy one. Thanks for the help. I will report back if they fit or not.

It will fit and work fine, only diff is that it has the tab for the recoil rope for the tool kit rope.
