new to jd and snowmobiling

Well here is my story I bought a propety in forclosure and on the possession day the owner burnt the house down with him in the basement. so thats a year a go and still fighting to get new house built. but now for the story on how i got the sled and i know some of you will get mad about parts of this story.About 8 beer in me i deside to start driving my dirty ford around my acreage to run over stuff like old outhouse crates and few sheds. Everything is fun till I hit the shed (i swear i checked to make sure there was nothing in it) so hit the shed and flaten it but there is something in the trees behind it and it was a 1973 jdx8 with wall on its hood so i go to bed for the night to months later it running thru my head i wonder if it runs so i load it on my trailer by draging first draging it out with my truck and drive it to a friends place. going online i start to try to find out how to hot wire it,but when i go out there i find the keys in the dash so i start checking got spark got a spray bottle of mix spray and it starts right up

now the bad its missing the drive belt i cant turn the clutch by hand with the track off the ground its missing what ever attachs to the carb the headlight molding thing and the seat ripped all over but has a back rest. Does anyone have pictures on how the air cleaner should look?

There is no air cleaner per se, but it does have an air box that acts as a silencer, and it collects the back spray from the carb and feeds it back into it.

There really was no air filter. There is a screen over the end of the intake hose to keep the mice out ( number 4 ).
Number 3 is a foam cover, but they turned to dust or were tossed because they would ice up.

well i looked on the engine stamp and it say Hirth motoren kg typ191R4 hubraum 634ccm motor number 501449 hmmm shoe horned the cut the brace by the pull cord to fit it in

Brad, it appears that you have a very elusive sled. To my knowledge, very few of the JDX8H (Hirth) series were made. It sounds like one might have escaped from a test session in Canada. Is it the bogey wheel model or the rarer slide job......?

I got know clue what the diffrence is in tracks. I think that someone just hacked it together.

So Brad, you're not thinking that this is a special "one off" sled. I still think that to have a Hirth powered X8 is quite a find.

There is only two bolts holding down the engine (the back 2)it has a yamaha throttle cable and throttle I did get the clucth to turn but when i opened the chain housing one of the plastic guideis broken. I took pictures of the sled tonight but in the dark so they look like crap

Hey guys, we have all seen this before. It is an abortion sled.

You can carry on the theme and leave the monster block in there or seek out the correct mill and put it back to stock.
